Austin founded the team in 2013. He was the President and Software Lead from 2013-2015. Austin developed algorithms for machine vision, control systems, and mission planning. He is currently a Software Engineer at Innoflight, Inc.

Maryann was the Media Lead from 2013-2016 and also part of the software team. She designed all of team's branding, as well as programming an STM 32 Discovery Board to get input from sensors.

James was the Mechanical Lead from 2015-2016. He led a team of 20 engineers in designing the hull, inner frame, and enclosures for ReDefiance. Afterwards, he also led the Test Vehicle project for the team to try out new sensors and equipment.

Drew Smith
Electrical Lead

Drew was the Electrical Lead from 2014-2015 following Josh Pritts and was tasked with the fabrication of the electrical systems. He troubleshooted embedded system code and electrical testing with a team of 6 engineering students. Drew also designed the Thruster Control and Power Management PCBs.

Andy is an Electrical Engineer who was on the team from 2015-2018. He is largely responsible for the electrical system of the 2017 Perseverance AUV and has continued to mentor on reiteration of that system for the 2018 competition.

Cameron Zamora
Mechanical Lead

Cameron is a mechanical engineering transfer student now studying at UCLA. He was apart of the team from 2021-2022 and was head of manufacturing for the mechanical team. He helped design, manufacture and test various parts for Pico, Scion and Perseverance. Also taught his peers about various manufacturing processes such as welding, CNC and design for manufacturability.
