Austin Owens
Founder, President, & Software Lead
Austin founded the team in 2013. He was the President and Software Lead from 2013-2015. Austin developed algorithms for machine vision, control systems, and mission planning. He is currently a Software Engineer at Innoflight, Inc.
Josh Pritts
Vice President
& Electrical Lead
Josh was the Vice President from 2013-2014 and Electrical Lead from 2013-2015. Josh designed the system architecture for the vehicle and led a team of engineers in designing Printed Circuit Boards for the system.
Rodrigo Leon-Alvarez
Mechanical Lead
Rodrigo was the Mechanical Lead from 2014-2015. He designed the outer hull and inner frame, and led the other mechanical engineers in designing the electronics enclosures.
Andrew Orellano
Vice President
& Business Lead
Andrew was the Vice President from 2014-2015. He fund-raised over $100,000 and managed the team administration.
Maryann Owens
Media Lead
Maryann was the Media Lead from 2013-2016 and also part of the software team. She designed all of team's branding, as well as programming an STM 32 Discovery Board to get input from sensors.
James Walker
Mechanical Lead
James was the Mechanical Lead from 2015-2016. He led a team of 20 engineers in designing the hull, inner frame, and enclosures for ReDefiance. Afterwards, he also led the Test Vehicle project for the team to try out new sensors and equipment.
David Barnes
Electrical Lead
David was an Electrical Project Manager in 2015, and Lead in 2016. He designed several Printed Circuit Boards to receive sensor input, regulate the power system, and perform leak detection.
Drew Smith
Electrical Lead
Drew was the Electrical Lead from 2014-2015 following Josh Pritts and was tasked with the fabrication of the electrical systems. He troubleshooted embedded system code and electrical testing with a team of 6 engineering students. Drew also designed the Thruster Control and Power Management PCBs.
Andy Grewe
Electrical Lead
Andy is an Electrical Engineer who was on the team from 2015-2018. He is largely responsible for the electrical system of the 2017 Perseverance AUV and has continued to mentor on reiteration of that system for the 2018 competition.
KC Jack Nave
Senior Design & Mechanical Lead
KC is a Mechanical Engineer who was a member from 2015-2018. He spearheaded the design of the 2017 RoboSub, Perseverance, as Mechanical Lead. He also led the vehicle test bed senior design project for 2018. He previously served as Mechanical Team Lead and designer on Overwatch.
Josef Adam Loeffler

& Electronics Lead
Adam is a Robotics Engineer who was a team member from 2015-2018. He was previously the Electronics Lead and continued to work on Perseverance's computer vision and controls systems as President in 2018.
Austin Rainer Wulf
Mechanical Lead
Austin is a RF Engineer and previously was Mechanical Lead for Fall 2018, in which he led the design for the 2019 RoboSub vehicle. His previous contributions include the vehicle design for Perseverance. He was also a Captain for Overwatch.
Bernard Gonzales
Electronics Project Manager
Bernard is a Electrical Engineering graduate who was previously Electronics Project Manager. He has previously worked on the leak detection system and HYDRAS for Perseverance.
Tyler Bashinski
President & Electrical Lead
Tyler is an Electrical Engineer who was previously President for Spring 2019 as well as Electrical Lead.
Karajo Kafka
Mechanical Project Manager
Karajo Kafka is a Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science minor graduate who was previously a Mechanical Project Manager.
Felipe Jared Guerrero Moreno

& Software Lead
Jared is a Software Engineer who was a team member from 2015-2018. He was previously the President and Software Lead for ReDefiance's computer vision and controls systems. He mentors the software team as an adviser.
Andrea Saucedo
Business Lead
Andrea is a graduating Senior Business major. She previously led the Business team by tackling outreach, sponsorships, media and team finances.
Alex Rosenberg
Mechanical Lead
Alex previously led the mechanical team and worked on electromechanical integration, managing the design of a underwater submersible vehicle, and creating a product breakdown system.
Eduardo Daniel Campas
Mechanical Lead
Daniel is a Mechanical Engineering graduate and previous Mechanical Lead. He contributed to leading the design of the 2020 RoboSub vehicle and previously worked on Perseverance's mechanical systems.
Alexa Becerra
Software Project Manager
Alexa is a Computer Science graduate with an Applied Math minor. She previously led as a Software Project Manager and contributed to the mission code and computer vision software system for the RoboSub vehicles.
Sarah Gomez
President &
Business Lead
Sarah is a Mechanical Engineering who was a team member from 2015-2021. She previously was the President for both Scion and Pico managing sponsorship acquisition and team communications. Before that, she was Vice President and Mechanical Project Manager for Perseverance's payload systems.
Pierce Walker-Howell
Software Lead & Electrical Co-Lead
Pierce is a Electrical Engineer perusing his PhD in robotics who was a team member from 2018-2021. He previously served as Software Lead for Perseverance and led the development of the 2020 vehicle's software system, Mech OS. Afterwards he was the Electrical Co-Lead designing Scion's Power Management System and managing Pico's Electrical system.
Christian Gould
Software Lead
Christian is an Applied Math and Computer Science major who was a team member from 2018-2021. He contributed with advanced control systems and precise mission code for Perseverance. Additionally, his efficient system architectures laid the framework for Pico and future robots' containerization.
Henry Segura
Mechanical Lead
Henry is a Mechanical Engineer who was a team member from 2019-2021. He contributed greatly to the mechanical design of Scion and leads the mechanical team's efforts for Pico.
Tristan Richmond
President &
Business Lead
Tristan is a Computer Engineering student with a minor in Business Administration. He previously managed the electrical system for Perseverance 2022 and lead the team to the Robosub 2022 competition. He also started the food delivery robot project in the same year.
Ian Reichard
Software Lead
Ian is a Computer Science major who was a team member from 2020-2022. In 2021, he wrote the interprocess communication code and the GUI with some drivers. In 2022, Ian lead the software and strategy teams. Wrote OS related, ROS, Computer Vision, AI code and contributed to the Robosub 2022 team
Jean Michel
Electrical Lead
Jean is a Senior Electrical Engineering student who was a team member from 2021-2022. He contributed to the design, assembly, and testing of the 2022 RoboSub vehicle motherboard.
Cameron Zamora
Mechanical Lead
Cameron is a mechanical engineering transfer student now studying at UCLA. He was apart of the team from 2021-2022 and was head of manufacturing for the mechanical team. He helped design, manufacture and test various parts for Pico, Scion and Perseverance. Also taught his peers about various manufacturing processes such as welding, CNC and design for manufacturability.
Tran Ly

Tran is a Mechanical Engineering student. She contributed to the mechanical system development, assembly, and testing of the 2022 RoboSub vehicle and ground support equipment design.
